Candida
Candida albicans is a fungus that normally lives in the human body and is a part of our indigenous microflora. However in the case of compromised immune function or lack of beneficial probiotics, its population becomes unchecked and grows out of control. When this occurs, a wide range of symptoms can occur. A wide variety of things can cause candida overgrowth, including antibiotic or other medication use, poor diet, hormone imbalance, chronic stress, leaky gut and other digestive disorders. Strictly following a yeast-free diet is extremely important in decreasing candida populations. Also, frequent use of a high quality probiotic supplement is essential for restoring ecological balance of the microflora of the body.
